Lucky Dip
With the aid of a lottery bid we successfully completed the purchase of the club Rib in February 2000. The 5.8 Humber Destroyer with a 4 stroke Yamaha 100 BHP engine has been purchased with all the trimmings so making it an ideal dive boat. It is a big asset to the club enabling us more flexibility with training and dive trips.

The boat went out for its first sea trials 18 Feb 2000 before being put through its paces on the boat handling course. The boat since then has been through a diver Coxwain course before before being officially launched by Lizie Bird, the BSAC National Diving Officer, on the 18th April at Stoney Cove. The name given to the boat is 'Lucky Dip' just to keep in with the theme of the lottery grant. |

The boat went out on its first diving trip Easter 2000 and is already being booked for use on a number of dive trips during 2007. |
Skinny Dip

As time has moved on the club had been talking for a long time about replacing Swift Diver, an inflatable boat that the club used along side Lucky Dip. With a substantial amount in the fund raising pot, it was decided at the start of 2004 to decommission Swift Diver and look for a suitable second hand RIB. One of the main aims of this purchase was to ensure that the RIB could be towed by the majority of club members, but could go to sea with Lucky Dip, something that could not always be done with Swift Diver. The above boat was purchased and named Skinny Dip. It's first outing was on a boat handling course at the end of April 2005.
This RIB is a 5 Meter Humber attack with 75 HP Mercury engine. It boasts its own GPS echo Sounder and all other safety systems, making it a good sea going boat . |
