Like the idea of scuba diving but don't know where to start?
A try dive is the best way to experience breathing underwater using scuba kit. It allows you to ensure that scuba diving is for you, without having to spend time and spend money on a full course.
What is a "Try Dive"?
Try dives typically consist of a short briefing followed by 30 to 40 minutes in the swimming pool under full instruction and guidance from one of our experienced, patient and friendly DBS cleared instructors. You can go at your own pace and you won't be asked to do anything that you're not comfortable with.
After our pool sessions we often frequent a local watering hole, why not come along to discuss the highlights of your try dive and learn more about who we are?
Where are you based?
We offer try dives in the swimming pool at Lutterworth sports centre, Leicestershire. See the how to find us page for a map and directions.
When can I get a try dive?
We can normally offer try dives on most Tuesday evenings between 21:00 and 22:00. We do need a little bit of time to organise an instructor so please try to give us plenty of notice if you have a particular date in mind.
What do I need to bring?
All you need to bring is yourself, swim wear, a towel and a t-shirt to wear in the water. All other equipment is provided by us.
If you own a mask or fins that you are already comfortable with then feel free to bring them along too.
The lockers at the leisure centre require a £1 coin to operate, this is returned to you when the locker is re-opened.
What does it cost?
We ask for a contribution towards our costs of £10 for the session. This all goes towards maintaining the club scuba kit, hiring the pool and generally keeping the club going - the instructors all give up their time for free.
Are there any restrictions?
The only requirements are that you are over the age of 12 with no known significant medical problems*. Please talk to us in advance if you are unsure about this.
Under 18s will need a parent or guardian to be present at the pool during the try dive. We also require proof of age for juniors.
Can I buy a try dive as a gift?
For £15 we offer a gift pack that also includes a certificate and any digital copies of photos taken during the try dive. Please note that underwater photos don't always turn out as well as we'd like, if this should happen then we'll offer a second go for free!
Sounds great, what do I need to do?
Contact us to arrange an evening to suit you.
* Significant medical conditions include: diabetes, blackouts (epilepsy, etc), perforated ear drums, high blood pressure, heart disease or any lung or respiratory disease (such as asthma)
