For newcomers, the entrance level is Ocean
Diver which involves initial training on the basic skills both
in the classroom and swimming pool. This ensures your knowledge
and practical ability is of a high standard before you venture out
into open water. Most training is carried out on a 1 to 1 basis,
the instructors are volunteers within the club and will help you
progress. Once you have learnt the basic training is continued at
Stoney Cove, which offers an ideal training
site, it also has the advantage of being close by!
The club has aqua lungs which are available for a one of charge and are
available for training purposes until you reach Sports Diver level. By the time
you have reached Sports Diver we encourage you to purchase your
own equipment, however, club kit still may be used at a small fee.
The club does own an 5.8 meter RIB craft which can be
used on club trips. In addition, there is a second smaller rib so that up to ten divers can comfortably go diving
We run trips both in this country and abroad. Our past
trips include a mixture of wreck and scenic diving. For future trips coming up see our trip
calendar.
The club isn't just about diving. We hold an annual Christmas dinner
and other social events such throughout the year, which are open
to family members.
In addition to diving courses there are skill development courses
to attend, such as boat handling,
first aid, search and recovery, so what ever your tastes we can
cater for them.
If you wish to try your hand at scuba diving we can offer you
a try dive most Tuesdays, however to avoid disappointment, please
